ePortfolio Update

I’ve spent some time tidying up my ePortfolio taking Claire’s feedback into consideration.  I’ve created a mindmap to help with the layout using Mind Maple.  After learning how important the design process is in instructional design I decided to transfer this approach to my ePortfolio.

ePortfolio Mindmap

I changed the theme from Chateau to Responsive and the navigation is much clearer.  The categories/modules are clearly displayed and I have created drop down menus incorporating the layout in the mindmap.  To promote consistency each module will have a drop down consisting of Blogs, Assessments and Conclusion so that the user can clearly navigate to their desired location.  I have kept the links to the pages at the top level and added some widgets including a search button.  I’ve tried to maintain a simple and fresh look to give a good first impression.

Create Drop Down Menus for Categories

This link helped me to create drop down menus for the categories.  I went to Appearance, Menus and added posts.  I used the drag and drop to create the level i.e. promote or demote.  As I have no experience in coding I found this very straight forward.

Anchor Links

These are also known as jump links and enables you to bookmark a location and create a link to its heading at the top similar to a table of contents.  I used this in the Ed-Tech Review so that I could list the tools at the top and when the user clicks on the tool it will take them to the paragraph about it on the page. Very useful and easy to create.
